So what exactly did I learn from the educational component of this river cruise…a whole lot that will benefit you when you are thinking of planning your next retreat on a ship:
1. Alignment
Branding of the river cruise line you sail on needs to match the branding of your company or business. You’re not a Walmart brand, so why would you give your attendees a Walmart experience? You wouldn’t. And here’s my not-so-shameless plug on working with a travel advisor 🙂 To help guide you when making these types of decisions.
2. Inclusivity
I’m specifically talking about cost here, even though the river cruise feel is so inclusive for a variety of individuals. Similar to alignment, you want to give your attendees a top-level experience, but it is also important to be mindful of expenses. Having your next retreat on a river cruise can make you look like the rockstar you are with so many items included in the up front cost.
3. Bucket List
When you say yes to a travel retreat on a cruise ship, you are also giving permission to your attendees to say yes to their wildest dreams. There were quite a few attendees sailing with me that it was their first time ever to Europe. Our business coach provided that opportunity.
Not only is she going to be remembered for a great masterclass she put on, but she is also going to be remembered because she gave the opportunity for so many people to finally visit Europe for the first time. Would you like to be remembered for the same?
4. Transformation
Another opportunity that you give to your attendees–the opportunity to come back changed…on many different levels. The opportunity to take a bucket list trip and encounter unique experiences, have one-on-one time with you, learn first-hand from you, take immediate action, bond with other like-minded attendees (which then leads to potential collaborations amongst them), new or renewed confidence and motivation…the potential transformations are endless!
