I sailed on the Liberty of the Seas out of Galveston, TX on January 16, 2022. First off–the port of Galveston is incredible! Much preferred over the chaos at the port of Miami. Secondly, at the time of this writing, the Liberty is pretty dated and that’s because the pandemic threw off her refurbishment schedule. It’s now looking like she’ll be back on track next year to get a much-needed update. She’s not a horrible ship, there’s just a lot on board that needs updating. That being said, there is so much opportunity here for your future retreats!
1. A conference center! There are 4 conference rooms onboard that can be combined to create larger spaces.
2. The theater! This is a great retreat location for keynote speeches.
3. Studio B, or the onboard ice skating rink is not only good for onboard ice shows and ice skating activities, but can also be transformed for another retreat venue for your program.
4. Royal Caribbean has an adults-only area on every ship, called the Solarium. This is a perfect location for when your attendees need some downtime.
5. The main dining room onboard has three levels and they are themed to famous artists, like Rembrandt.
6. This class of ship has a promenade in the center that is like a hub for guests. There are many areas for dining, shopping, and bar hopping.
7. One of the large lounges onboard, the Star Lounge, would also serve as an excellent retreat location for some of your sessions.
